DESCRIPTION: Fruticose. A real tough lichen and one that is recognised by its flat-narrow branches that are grey-green on the upperside and paler below. The growth pattern is tufted and on the edge of the branches one can usually find delimited and often disc-like, round to oval, soralia. Also known as Cartilage Lichen. DISTRIBUTION: Very common even in polluted areas due to its tolerance of acid. HABITAT: Branches of deciduous trees.
